PEARLS

One day when I was a child, I went to Sea World and watched fake mermaids and mermen pull fake pearls up from the bottom of a fake saltwater ocean. They passed them out to the other kids. I didn't get one. Even though I very politely kept my hand raised.

Missing out, I comforted myself by secretly feeling I was the gritty, little unnoticeable grain of sand that would one day become a fake pearl.

But, in those days I was naive to how bad the world blows. I remember when it seemed like everything would work out. That greatness was due me in adulthood. I was deluded.

Having arrived into adulthood, hand dead in the air, I'm still nothing but an infinitesimal, unnoticeable rock.
